Princess Ramey '83

Princess Ramey ’83 is a true Westridge girl. When asked what she remembers most about Westridge, she reflects fondly on her school uniform, Greeks and Romans, and the beautiful campus. At Westridge, Princess recalls feeling challenged but supported, learning that hard work and sincere effort are rewards, and that failure should be viewed as an opportunity to grow.

A Supervising Attorney and Outreach Director at the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles (CLC), Princess’ responsibilities range from training and mentoring attorneys to identifying trial strategies and providing case coverage. In her role as Outreach Director, Princess oversees three CLC donor-based funds and the volunteer/law clerk program, and has taken on an increasing role with fundraising and public-relations efforts.

Princess is enthusiastic about her work because she is intellectually challenged while doing work she cares about. She enjoys working with children and families, seeing how quality child advocacy can lead to positive, long-term results for the families and society as a whole.

“In the legal profession,” Princess says, “too often young attorneys measure their self-worth by courtroom wins and losses, but Westridge taught me to measure my successes by lessons learned, even those lessons that come from suffering through a tough defeat.” Princess noted that she has the privilege of working with a great group of people and as she was at Westridge, is surrounded by many smart and dynamic women that challenge her to do better and try harder.

Outside of work, Princess enjoys spending time with her family, saying that they laugh a lot together. She loves reading, traveling, and cooking, an appreciation she learned from her mother and grandmother.

When asked to share advice with current Westridge students, Princess encourages, “Dream big, but also make some of life’s decisions by asking if what you’re doing will produce good in the world. Westridge girls have so many gifts to offer, and it is a shame to let life go by without sharing those gifts with the rest of the world.” Princess is striving to do just that.
